The 77th Independence Day celebration at Don Bosco High School and Jr. College Naigaon, was commemorated with a patriotic spirit through a variety of colourful, cultural events.

From drawing and colouring competitions for the tiny tots, to patriotic songs and dance competitions, speeches and a skit sketching the context of the occasion, all created a festive atmosphere in the school. Colourful and well decorated classrooms, corridors, entrances, and the backdrop set a beautiful and fitting tone for the occasion.

To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the tricolour flag was unfurled at 7.45am, by our senior support staff member, Mr. Anil Bohir, and everyone joined together to sing the National Anthem in celebration of our freedom. Then followed the pledge and prayer and a flow of patriotic songs, speeches, and dances.

Fr. Dominic Martis, the Rector, spoke about the efforts and sacrifices made by our heroic liberation fighters, transporting the audience back in time. He urged the students to uphold the values of great liberation fighters like Mahatma Gandhi and others, and he enlightened them on the need of truth and unity in daily life as well as the need to be model citizens of the nation.

The program culminated with a vote of thanks. The day was indeed a celebration that created a mindfulness of everything we must do to make our country a place of happiness, peace, prosperity, and equality for all.
