The under-17 girls of Don Bosco High School and Junior College Naigaon East, won the Final DSO, (District Level) Football Match organised by Vasai- Virar Mahanagarpalika on 15th September,2023. The finals were played against Rustamjee High School Virar, where they won by a score of 1-0.
Under the able guidance and supervision of the Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca and Vice- Principal, Fr. Joaquim Fernandes and the training of our capable coaches, it is for the second time that the girls have proven that there is no dearth of talent at Don Bosco’s Naigaon, when it comes to sports. The zeal and enthusiasm were clearly seen on the faces of the girls as they performed remarkably well in closely played matches during the DSO tournament. The girls displayed an exceptional sense of teamwork, and the link-up plays and interchanges were superb. They put in a tonne of effort on the practising pitch, and it showed in their expertly executed goal. They persisted in making the tackle and stopped the opposition from gaining possession of the ball. This gave them the chance they needed to win convincingly.
The coaches, Mr. Emmanuel Olukunle Ilo, and Mr. Gaji Ona Destiny, have been working assiduously with the team. The girls are now gearing up for the Divisional Level.
The coach Emmanuel Olukunle Ilo confidently stated, “The girl’s eagerness, discipline, determination and coordination were on full display as they were determined to win. They plan to give their best and will continue to win in the up-coming matches.”
The team manifested great sportsmanship towards achieving their goal. They expressed their gratitude towards their coach and to the school for the opportunity they had to represent the school. It was heartening to see the young team rejoice and celebrate their victory.
