23^rd Annual Thanksgiving Day – At Don Bosco’s Naigaon

Don Bosco High School & Jr. College, Naigaon celebrated its 23rd Annual Thanksgiving Day, reminiscing yet another year of hard work and achievements. The event took place in the school hall and was graced by the Rector, Fr. Dominic Martis, the Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca, Vice-Principal, Fr. Joaquim Fernandes, and members of the management. The participants welcomed the management, staff, parents and fellow students with a classical welcome dance. To mark an auspicious beginning and to propitiate grace from God above, the programme commenced by invoking the blessings of the Almighty through a prayer song and dance.

The principal addressed the gathering thanking the staff, parents and students, with a quote of gratitude saying, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt by heart.” He urged everyone to value and preserve the legacy of Don Bosco who, in his system of education, envisaged an all-around and balanced education based on sound intellectual, physical, moral and social formation.

The members of the PTA were felicitated and thanked for their constant support and cooperation rendered to the school. A prize distribution ceremony was conducted to felicitate and recognize the talent of students in various fields like academics and sports. The rector, Fr. Dominic Martis in his speech highlighted and upheld the principles and mission of our father and founder, St. John Bosco, saying, “Don Bosco’s mission was to serve the poor and abandoned youth. Let us not neglect or forget the poor in our society but strive to help them. We are all called to walk and work together in our mission of spreading love and bringing about peace in our neighbourhood.”

The school then felicitated and bid farewell to our dear security guard, Mr. Baloram Das on his retirement with a citation. He eagerly expressed his gratitude to all saying, “I had many unforgettable experiences here at Don Bosco’s Naigaon. I braved many obstacles initially, but this has been my home for a while now and I have loved my tenure here. All the fathers have been very amiable towards me. teachers, staff members, parents and others have been very co-operative. I have seen students who joined school and today have children of their own. It has been satisfying.”
The school annual report was then presented accentuating the progress made by the school through the academic years 2021-22 and 2022-23. A skit based on the need for peace in our families, which further culminated in a song and dance enthralled the audience. The program culminated by the proposal of a vote of thanks by a student. It was indeed a day that left the audience in awe an admiration for the institution.
