The beginning of a new academic year is a crucial period for any educational institution. It is a time for reflection, setting new goals, and reaffirming the commitment to providing a high-quality education.
The management and staff of Don Bosco High School & Jr. College, Naigaon, held their first staff meeting on June 14, 2024, in the school’s A.V. Hall. Approximately 75 staff members, along with the management, attended the meeting. The meeting commenced with an opening prayer by Tr. Anne Dsouza from the Pre-Primary Section.
The Rector, Fr. Dominic Martis addressed the staff by extending a warm welcome to all staff members. He set clear expectations for the staff to ensure the institution’s continued success. He encouraged the staff to cultivate a collaborative atmosphere within the institution, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing student needs and supporting their academic and personal development. He encouraged open dialogue between staff and management to address concerns and suggestions promptly. The address by the rector primarily emphasized the collective effort required to ensure a successful academic year and the importance of teamwork, dedication and willingness to work happily. The rector’s address concluded with an inspirational note, urging the staff to embrace the new academic year with enthusiasm and a positive mindset.
Principal Fr. Anthony Fonseca highlighted several key accomplishments from the past academic year, including academic excellence, recognition of exceptional student performance and faculty achievements, infrastructure advancements, and the implementation of new learning management systems and digital tools. He outlined several strategic goals for the upcoming year, focusing on enhancing academic quality, improving curriculum standards, refining teaching methodologies, advancing student assessment techniques, and promoting the integration of innovative teaching practices and technology in the classroom. The principal expressed confidence in the staff’s ability to meet and exceed expectations, and reiterated his commitment to providing the necessary support and resources. He thus concluded his address by outlining the goals, objectives and vision for the new academic year.
Supervisor Dorothy Fernandes read out the to-do list and reminders for the month of June and then presented the proposed plan of events and activities scheduled for the Jubilee year.
Fr. Joaquim Fernandes the vice-principal, further led the discussion about the Jubilee events and provided additional information and guidance to execute the plan.
Fr. Edward Dsouza, in presenting the Pre-Primary action plan for the Jubilee year, emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and being open to continuous learning. He stressed the necessity of keeping up with a rapidly advancing world and urged all staff members to upgrade their skills to provide the best for their students, who view their teachers as role models.
The management council’s address thus set a positive and motivating tone for the new academic year. The meeting ended with a prayer by Tr. Annie Derin from the Secondary Section.
