SCOUT AND GUIDE CAMP

A camp was organized for the scouts and guides of Std 8th, 9th and 10th on 14th of January 2023. Around five hundred and fifty students participated in this camp that was held on the school ground. The theme of this camp was ‘BE PEACEMAKERS’. The event commenced with a march past by the troops of Std 8th, 9th and 10th followed by the hoisting of the flag, promise, flag song and prayer song by the Scouts and Guides.

Sir Dyaneshwar Indulkar, camp master from Don Bosco Nerul, assisted the students and trained them with the basic skills in camptcraft, as in – proper use of wood tools, tying basic knots and simple lashing, pioneering projects and other innovative gadgets. They also learnt tent pitching. The students engaged in patrol corner decoration and preparation of dry snacks.

Dr. Sandhya Murkhe, Gynaecologist, educated the students on the principles of first aid, health and hygiene. It was an insightful session where students acquired great knowledge about personal hygiene.

Around 180 students were taken for a nature trail outside the school campus where they unearthed hidden messages, eventually being able to answer the questions that were put forward as a fun activity. The students were shown the mangroves and explained about their importance by teacher Namrata Fernandes. After the evening snacks, the students were asked to prepare for the campfire. The campfire was lit and graced by our Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca and Vice-Principal, Fr. Joaquim Fernandes along with the teachers. Students sang songs and danced around the campfire. The Principal concluded the event with his message saying, “We should learn through the principles of Lord Baden Powell, to always lend a helping hand to those who need it.” It was a fulfilled evening that closed at around 9.00p.m. after a sumptuous dinner.
