The PDBA Carnival Basketball Tournament, organized by Palghar District Basketball Association, featured participation from various schools spanning Naigaon to Virar. The under-12 girl’s team of Don Bosco High School and Jr. College, Naigaon East, emerged as clear winners of the district-level title. While all team members displayed determination and skill throughout the tournament, Racheal Okho stood out as the most impactful player. Her exceptional agility, quick moves, strength, and ability to score over defenders distinguished her as the standout player of the tournament. Unsurprisingly, she was honoured with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the under-12 Girl’s Basketball Tournament and received a cash prize of Rs. 20,110.
The coach, Abraham Thomas said, “Rachel Okoh is widely regarded as the most influential player in the region, excelling on both offense and defence. On the offensive end, she commands double or even triple teams due to her ability to manoeuvre anywhere on the court with ease, showcasing impeccable footwork, and a knack for shooting over defenders. Defensively, she dominates by controlling the defence and discouraging opponents from attempting shots in the paint.”
Don Bosco High School and Jr. College, Naigaon, has achieved remarkable success in sports over the past two years. This accomplishment is attributed to the dedicated guidance, encouragement, and diligent oversight provided by our Vice-Principal and Sports in-charge, Fr. Joaquim Fernandes.
