Don Bosco High School & Jr. College, Naigaon, celebrated its 25th Annual Sports Day with tremendous enthusiasm and a spirit of camaraderie. The event, held on 7TH December 2024, was a vibrant display of athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit. The theme of the day, “Health, Harmony, and Holiness,” resonated deeply throughout the proceedings, making it a memorable event for students, staff, and parents alike.
The Chief Guest for the occasion, Rev. Fr. Thomas Baptist, Director of Umed Centre – Empowering People with Disabilities, Bhuigaon, Vasai, and Parish Priest at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Chulne, Vasai, declared the meet open in front of an enthusiastic crowd of around 2000 students and their parents. The ceremony commenced with a delightful float procession, where the primary section students brought the theme to life with their colourful attire, props, and meaningful messages. Their presentation captured the essence of the day’s theme in a vibrant, creative display.
The four houses from the secondary section then took center stage, presenting a flawless March Past that highlighted their discipline, precision, and coordination. Their performance set the tone for the day, showcasing the values of teamwork and unity.
The college section students added a burst of energy to the event with an impressive dance performance, welcoming the Chief Guest and the audience. Their lively moves and coordination were a testament to the hard work and preparation put into their presentation.
The day also saw captivating performances by the younger students. The primary students impressed everyone with their gymnastics, while the secondary students showcased their skills in Mallakhamb, demonstrating strength and agility. The college section’s Drill performance brought the first half of the event to a grand conclusion, with synchronized movements that wowed the crowd.
The final day of the Sports Meet was filled with excitement and anticipation as the finalists from various age categories, across all sections, competed in the track and field events. From sprints to relays, the students put forth their best efforts, competing with determination and sportsmanship. The parents and students cheered loudly, creating an atmosphere charged with energy and enthusiasm.
As the events came to a close, the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Thomas Baptist, along with members of the school’s management, distributed prizes to the winners. The athletes were congratulated for their remarkable performances and their commitment to excellence in sports.
In his address, Fr. Thomas Baptist emphasized the importance of the values that sports instil in individuals, stating, “Today is a celebration not just of athletic excellence, but also of discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and the ability to rise above challenges. Every race, every game, every competition is a reflection of the effort, determination, and commitment each of you has put into preparing for this day.”
The Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca, expressed his gratitude to the staff, coaches, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to organize the event and ensure its success. He acknowledged the dedication and enthusiasm of the students, teachers, and parents, without whom the event wouldn’t have been possible.
The champions of each age category were honoured with the championship awards, and the winning house proudly received the coveted trophy. The day concluded with the lowering of the flag, and the sports meet was officially closed by the Administrator, Fr. William Falcao.
The 25th Annual Sports Day was a remarkable celebration of physical fitness, unity, and sportsmanship. The students showcased their athletic talents, the staff demonstrated their unwavering commitment to excellence, and the parents supported their children every step of the way. This day was a true testament to the values of “Health, Harmony, and Holiness,” and the legacy of the event continues to inspire all who participated.
