The Don Bosco Under-14 Girls’ Basketball team emerged victorious at the prestigious 3×3 Palghar District Basketball Championship held at PDBA Ground on January 26th. This remarkable achievement adds another milestone to the team’s impressive season, solidifying their position as the top under-14 basketball team in the Palghar district.
The district championship was contested in a round-robin format, pushing teams to showcase both their skills and endurance. Don Bosco’s team, consisting of Rachel Okoh, Pranjal Valantara, Sonakshi Sinha, Surabhi Sinha, and Desire Uka, delivered an outstanding performance, winning all three of their league matches with ease. This secured them a spot in the final against Santome Public School.
The final was a thrilling encounter, with both teams tied at 5-5 after regulation and extra time. Ultimately, Don Bosco triumphed in a tense free-throw shootout, claiming the district championship title.
Coach Abraham Thomas shared his thoughts on the team’s performance, saying, “I am incredibly proud of the girls for their dedication and effort throughout the championship. Their teamwork and focus were outstanding, and they truly earned this victory. I’m excited to see them continue to grow and challenge themselves in upcoming competitions.”
This victory not only brings pride to the team but also to Don Bosco School and the surrounding community. It serves as a boost to the team’s morale and motivation, propelling them to continue their pursuit of excellence in future competitions.
