The VVMC – Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation, DSO, Basketball Tournament was held on September 23, 2024, at the St. Augustine School grounds, showcasing an impressive display of talent and sportsmanship from various schools in the region. Don Bosco High School & Jr. College, participated with remarkable performances by both, the Under-14 girls and Under-17 boys’ teams.

The standout moment of the tournament came from our Under-14 girls’ team, who delivered an outstanding performance to clinch the 1st place title. Demonstrating exceptional teamwork and skill, the girls defeated their rivals in the finals with a commanding score of 13-2 against Carmelite Convent School Sandor. Led by the inspirational Rachel Okoh, the team received significant contributions from Krutuja Suryavanshi, Desire Uka, Merit Amadi, and Pranjal Valanthra. Their victory not only marks a triumphant return to the top but also qualifies them for the upcoming Mumbai Division level matches.

Our Under-17 boys’ team also showcased impressive skills throughout the tournament, ultimately securing 2nd place. The boys fought valiantly, demonstrating resilience and determination in their games. The coach, Sir Abraham Thomas stated, “Although the boys faced tough competition, their effective teamwork and strategic approach helped them earn a spot on the podium. Their performance serves as a strong foundation for future tournaments, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and success.”

The sports director and vice-principal, Fr. Joaquim Fernandes, remarked, “We are immensely proud of our basketball teams for their outstanding performance at the VVMC Tournament. These achievements reflect not only the hard work and dedication of our teams but also the support of our coaching staff and the entire school community.”

The VVMC Basketball Tournament was not just about the results; it was a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication. Our athletes displayed incredible passion and commitment, making the school community proud. Congratulations to all our players for their hard work and achievements!
