A meticulously planned summer camp by the Management and Staff of Don Bosco High School and Jr. College, Naigaon, not only trained students in various sports, but also significant life skills, grooming them to become more stronger and competent individuals. About 200 pupils eagerly participated in the many activities and events held at the camp from April 8 until April 26, 2024, when the camp officially ended.
At the opening ceremony the Rector, Fr. Dominic Martis welcomed the students and encouraged them to participate in sports. Sir Lucas Lopes, the camp overseer, then provided the rules, regulations, and other crucial instructions. The camp’s in-charge, Sir Lucas Lopes, then provided the rules and regulations as well as other crucial directives needed for the camp to run well.
In addition to learning about sports, the student’s active participation helped them develop a variety of abilities and skills needed for sports like football, basketball, cricket, taekwondo, skating, and more. Learning how to create different show pieces out of thrash was enjoyable for students enrolled in the art and craft programme. Due to its capacity to activate the senses, the Abacus training programme was beneficial to the pupils and helped in enhancing their ability to retain new information. The students were also trained for VIDEO EDITING and GAMING through the CAPCUT SOFTWARE and SCRATCH PROGRAM.
A schedule was prepared, with pupils attending the camp in separate batches. The pupils were given the appropriate sports equipment for training, and arrangements were made for them to be housed in various recreational areas on the school grounds. The instructors/coaches helped the children improve their overall level of fitness and skill in their chosen sports by providing them with ongoing assistance. Though the summer heat was at its peak, the camp remained a happy, safe, and enjoyable place because of the coaches’ leadership and concern for the students enrolled. It was indeed an enriching and fruitful experience for the children and for the sports department as well.
The camp concluded with a closing ceremony wherein the Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca, addressed the students. Students were then felicitated for their accomplishments and successful completion of camp projects. Certificates and prizes were distributed accordingly.
