TRILINGUAL ELOCUTION COMPETITION

On 24 September 2026, Don Bosco High School and Junior College, Naigaon East, conducted the finals of the Trilingual Elocution Competition for the Secondary Section. The programme commenced at 10:30 a.m. with a warm welcome extended to the dignitaries, judges, members of the management, teachers and students.

The judging panel comprised two distinguished alumni of Don Bosco, Mr. Dwayne Fernandes and Ms. Prarthna Khot, along with Rev. Fr. Joaquim Fernandes, Vice-Principal of the institution. It was a proud moment for the school to welcome its former students back as accomplished professionals and judges of the competition.

Twenty-four students from Standards V to X participated in the competition and delivered speeches in English, Hindi and Marathi. The participants presented their thoughts with confidence, clarity and conviction. The competition provided them with an opportunity to improve their communication skills, pronunciation, voice modulation and expression. The messages conveyed through the speeches encouraged the audience to develop empathy, discipline, responsibility and social awareness.

After the participants had completed their speeches, the judges addressed the gathering and appreciated their sincere efforts. Recalling their own school days, one of the alumni remarked, “I was also like you, sitting here—sometimes as a participant and sometimes in the crowd.” Drawing upon their personal experiences, the judges shared how their teachers had recognised their potential, encouraged them to participate in school activities and helped them develop the confidence to speak on stage. They emphasised that such competitions strengthen articulation and communication skills, which remain valuable throughout one’s personal and professional life. Their words inspired the students to prepare sincerely, participate wholeheartedly, face challenges courageously and continue pursuing their dreams.

This was followed by an address by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Anthony Fonseca. He congratulated the participants on their commendable performances and encouraged all the students to continue developing their talents, confidence and communication skills.

The programme concluded with the announcement of the results and a Vote of Thanks. The competition proved to be an enriching learning experience and provided the students with a meaningful platform to express their ideas and grow into confident and responsible speakers.
