SEMINAR ON EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING AND CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT EQUIPS TEACHERS FOR THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

As the new academic year begins, a thought-provoking and enriching seminar was organized for teachers of Don Bosco Naigaon, to enhance their understanding of discipline-related challenges and effective classroom management. The session, titled “Beyond Discipline – Emotional Well-being and Classroom Management in Large Classrooms,” was conducted by Ms. Ratandeep, an experienced psychologist and counsellor from Prafulta Counseling Services.

The seminar offered around 50 teachers a valuable psychotherapeutic perspective on classroom dynamics, encouraging them to reflect on common behavioural and emotional challenges faced by students. Through insightful discussions and shared experiences, participants explored ways to foster a more supportive and nurturing learning environment.

Ms. Ratandeep emphasized the importance of understanding emotions and developing healthy strategies for emotional regulation. She highlighted the crucial role played by both parents and teachers in promoting the emotional development and well-being of students. The session encouraged educators to look beyond disciplinary measures and focus on building meaningful connections with learners.

Among the key takeaways from the seminar were the importance of accepting reality, regulating one's own emotions, and adopting practical strategies to manage situations when tensions escalate in the classroom. Teachers reflected on how their presence, patience, empathy, and attentive listening can significantly influence students and contribute to a positive classroom atmosphere.

The interactive session was conducted through engaging presentations, reflective activities, group discussions, and games, all designed to underscore the impact of teacher awareness and responsiveness on student well-being. The seminar proved to be both insightful and inspiring, leaving participants better equipped to create emotionally safe and conducive learning spaces for their students.
