“Bronze with Bravery: Don Bosco Naigaon Girls Shine at DSO Tournament”

The Under-17 Girls Football Team of Don Bosco Naigaon, showcased outstanding skill and determination at the District Sports Office - DSO Inter-School Football Tournament held at Virar on 8th September 2025, finishing in 3rd place among a competitive field of schools.

The tournament began with a strong start as Don Bosco secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Rahul International School, earning them a spot in the semifinals. In a tense and hard-fought semifinal match against Yash Vidya Niketan School, the teams remained level until the final whistle, with Don Bosco narrowly missing out in the penalty shootout, falling short 2-1. Undeterred, the team regrouped and showed great resilience in the third-place playoff, defeating Notre Dam School, 1-0 to claim a well-deserved spot at the tournament.

Fr. Joaquim Fernandes, Vice Principal and Sports Director of Don Bosco Naigaon School and Junior College, played an instrumental role in the team's success. His continuous support, guidance, and regular follow-ups with the team and coaching staff throughout their practice sessions ensured the players remained focused and motivated.

Coach Emmanuel Olukunle Ilo, remarked that the girls had shown remarkable determination and energy, adding that every match was a testament to their courage, teamwork, and resilience. He emphasized that their bronze medal was well deserved and expressed his pride in their journey.
