The students of Std. X, of Don Bosco High School and Jr. College, Naigaon, participated enthusiastically in the Scouts and Guides Camp held on 19th December 2025, centred on the theme ‘Together we Serve’. The camp aimed at nurturing the spirit of service, teamwork, leadership, and social responsibility, encouraging students to look beyond themselves and work together for the common good. Rooted in the Salesian values of solidarity, discipline, and concern for others, the camp inspired students to become responsible citizens who serve with empathy, courage, and a joyful heart.
The day commenced with B.P. exercises, followed by the flag hoisting and an inspiring address by the Rector, who encouraged the students to remain alert, disciplined, and prepared to face challenges with confidence and integrity in every walk of life.
Throughout the day, students actively engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, including tent pitching, preparation of gadgets and pioneering projects, cooking, and corner decoration competitions, which fostered teamwork, creativity, practical skills and encouraged resourcefulness, as students worked together to plan, prepare, and present their tasks using limited resources in a camp setting.
In his address, the Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca, reminded the students that the Scout and Guide movement is not merely about activities but about shaping character, urging them to live the Scout promise and law in their daily lives and to be ever ready to serve others with courage, discipline, and compassion.
As the day drew to a close, the students beautifully brought the theme to life through a vibrant cultural programme, reflecting the true spirit of scouting. The camp concluded with the lowering of the flag by the Camp Master; Sir Lucas Lopes and the students dispersed with valuable lessons and enriching experiences that will remain with them for a lifetime.
The Scouts and Guides Camp provided students with valuable learning experiences by fostering self-reliance, resilience, and confidence through hands-on outdoor activities. It enhanced practical life skills such as teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making, while instilling discipline, responsibility, and respect for rules and routines. Rooted in the Salesian spirit of Don Bosco, the camp promoted values of reason, religion, and loving-kindness, encouraging students to live lives of service, preparedness, and concern for others. The experience strengthened students physically, mentally, and morally, preparing them to face real-life challenges with courage and responsibility.
