The school proudly joined the nation in celebrating a significant cultural milestone—the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song, Vande Mataram, to foster awareness and unity and connect citizens, especially the youth and students. This timeless hymn, composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875 and later included in his celebrated novel Anandamath, has served as a source of inspiration, patriotism, and unity for generations of Indians. Set to musical expression by Rabindranath Tagore, the song played a pivotal role in the Indian freedom struggle, awakening the spirit of courage and selfless devotion to the motherland.
The programme began with a brief narration on the history and significance of Vande Mataram. Students learned how the song became a symbol of India’s collective identity, motivating freedom fighters and ordinary citizens alike to rise for the cause of independence. It was later accorded the honour of being recognized as the National Song of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1950, standing alongside the National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana, and continues to command the highest respect. As a mark of reverence, the students and staff sang Vande Mataram together, allowing its profound words and melody to resonate through the hall, creating an atmosphere of pride, gratitude, and unity.
A notable feature of the event was the presence of the police team from Naigaon Police Station. Police Officers, Mr. Suresh Jagtab and Mr. Ashok Gunjal, head constable Mr. Prakash Aware and their team interacted with the students. Police Officer Suresh Jagtab, delivered an insightful awareness session on responsible mobile phone usage. He highlighted the importance of maintaining personal safety, being cautious of online interactions, protecting digital privacy, and preventing misuse of social media. The session encouraged students to remain informed, alert, and sensible while engaging in the digital world.
The commemoration concluded with a message reminding everyone that Vande Mataram is not merely a song, but a living expression of our cultural pride, national unity, and unbroken spirit. As the school joined the nation in honouring this historical milestone, it reinforced the call to remain rooted in love for the motherland and mindful of our roles as responsible citizens.
